breathe

whew

ok. i can breathe now.

apologies for the minimal blogging- between last week's midterms and projects, driving home to houston, and flying to hawai'i, i just haven't had the time. but now everything has slowed down. thank god.

good news is that after all the stress and little sleep of midterms, i got a 96 on my renaissance exam, two 100's on my american fiction tests, and had a great critique on my web design in interactive. SO it was all worth it and now i can enjoy my vacation.

i forgot how different the attitudes are between the woodlands and maui. the woodlands is so uptight, conservative and proper, and in maui people wear bathing suits everywhere (even people who maybe shouldn't be bearing that much), everyone has a laid back attitude, and you can paint your house pink and have chickens in your yard (the woodlands association would NOT approve of that). but what i LOVE the most about maui are these three things:

1) everyone wears flip flops (slippahs) ALL the TIME :) 2) reggae music is played EVERYWHERE 3) and of course, the awesome beaches

yep. i feel right at home.

i saw this on a website- "Only in the Woodlands do we...." i picked out a couple and put them here. they're pretty funny.
only in the woodlands do we....
- think walmart is dangerous
-use the rule of "nicest car goes first" at four way stops rather than the actual rule of first goes first -park next to a mercedes, a bmw, and a hummer and you're in the highschool parking lot
-have 8 year olds with iphones
-have the houston texan's cheerleaders come to your pep rallies
- you can screw off in school and still get an awesome job because your dad is a corporate executive with connections
-have a section for even richer people like the executive of Macy's (carlton woods)
- have the 2nd most expensive highschool parking lot in the nation (1st is beverly hills high) and the 1st most snobbiest school in the nation (according to the David Letterman show)

- have to get permission to paint your house, cut down a tree on your property, build a pool on your property ect.
- flemings is the new tgi fridays

the rest are at urbandictionary.com. pretty funny but frighteningly true. 8 year olds with iphones... barf.

one last note- wedding is scheduled for memorial day weekend of 2011. just put the deposit on it last weekend! just giving everyone a heads up since i know a few of us are engaged and i don't want the drama of having two weddings in one weekend becauseee that would suck. save the dates will come later. invitations will follow after that :)

i am so thankful for my life and the awesome people in it. even my challenges because i know they will make me stronger. and the best way to show my appreciation for my life and its' blessings is to return the favor through volunteering and helping others. what goes around comes around- if it's good or bad karma is up to you.

oh- i love my incredible partner in crime, travis. we are over halfway done with deployment so it's all downhill from here. i am so thankful for having him in my life.

be checking for a wedding update soon- we will be setting a date this weekend (FINALLY)! i will post general wedding details this weekend as well (color scheme, centerpiece ideas, ect.) also, i won a free engagement/bridal session with Silver Image photography! what whaaaaat :)

anyway, time to start some homework. SB-HA '10 in one week!
